What Does The Mighty Nein Have Left: Sour Nest Edition

Rachebones 2.png

Thanks to @rachebones for this art piece!

What started as a simple mission for The Gentleman in Zadash nearly three weeks ago has morphed into a quest to reclaim three of their kidnapped companions and seek vengeance for their fallen friend. Through a lot of careful planning and generally successful execution, The Mighty Nein find themselves in the stronghold basement of their quarry, The Iron Shepherds. Here are the resources they have at their disposal.

Beau

Thanks to @KtShy for this art piece!

  • 44/44 HP
  • 4/5 Ki

Except for one used ki point, Beau goes into the basement battles at full strength. She used her boots’ ability in the fray upstairs, but she’s dexterous enough that it won’t put her at too much of a disadvantage. She also has on a guard’s cloak, which aid her in bluffing her way into the next room.

Caduceus

Thanks to @Doonami for this art piece!

  • 42/42 HP
  • Spells:
    • 1st:  1/4
    • 2nd: 3/3
    • 3rd: 2/2
  • Hidden Step
  • Channel Divinity

Caduceus, who currently also looks like one of the dead Sour Nest guards, was very generous with his first level spells to help his new companions. He’s saved his higher level spells, though, as well as his Channel Divinity, for which he can use either Turn/Destroy Undead (less likely to be helpful here) or Path to the Grave. He also has a firbolg ability called Hidden Step that allows him to use a bonus action to turn invisible until his next turn (or he attacks, forces a saving throw, or makes a damage roll).

Caleb

Thanks to @arcanefey for this art piece!

  • 31/31 HP
  • Spells:
    • 1st: 2/4
    • 2nd: 0/3
    • 3rd 0/2
  • Periapt of Wound Closure

Caleb is hurting for spells… badly. There is good news, though. He’s at full strength, has Mage Armor active, and can fling Fire Bolts to his heart’s content. If they somehow manage to get a short rest in, he does still have his Arcane Recovery, so he could regenerate up to three levels of spell slots (so either one 3rd level, one 2nd level and one 1st level, or three 1st levels). Should he go unconscious, the Periapt of Wound Closure that Beau gave to Caleb after Molly died will stabilize him at the top of his next turn.

 Keg

Thanks to @Takayuuki_art for this art piece!

  • 47/54 HP
  • Second Wind

Keg used her action surge and took a beating against her former friend upstairs. Thanks to Caduceus’ healing, she goes into the basement ready to get revenge. If she starts hurting, she has her Second Wind at the ready to get her back in the fight.

Nott

Thanks to @Larn_draws for this art piece!

  • 32/40 HP
  • Spells:
    • 1st: 2/3
  • Fury of the Small

Nott used one of her spells against the barbarian upstairs, and took a hit from the rock trap. So while she’s not in quite as good of shape as Beau, she’s not hurting at the moment.
