Despite their terrifying appearance, their warlike culture, and the fact that they enjoy humanoid flesh as a spoil of war, lizardfolk by themselves are not strictly evil. Wild tribes are willing to reliably ally themselves with humans, dwarves, elves, and other humanoids, especially when they are able to see the value of such alliances. However, they do worship dragons, and an evil dragon who has the tribute of a tribe of lizardfolk indeed has a loyal army of enforcers willing to plunder civilization. Allura tells us that the last time Thordak was in power, he had the assistance of the lizardfolk, and it would appear that their loyalty has not died with time.

While most lizardfolk are low-level grunts, there are a few that are endowed with magical capabilities as tribe druids. These shamans are able to transform into crocodiles once per short or long rest, and have an array of spells (up to the third level) with which to support their allies. The only fairly effective spell we saw in action was Heat Metal, but shamans can be just as effective melee combatants as their comrades.

  • Wyvern First Appearance: 15 Skyward
  • Armor Class 13
  • Speed 20 ft, 80 ft flying
  • Darkvision 60 ft, Passive 14

    • Wyvern 2 took 125 Damage (32 damage on final blow)
    • Wyvern 3 took 126 Damage (18 damage on final blow)
    • Wyvern 4 took 152 Damage (41 damage on final blow)

The wyverns make a return in episode 41. Unlike the pirate companions, these dragons are strictly for warfare. The increase in numbers and the lack of distance to the ground with which to splat them made this a more difficult battle, but even with the ambush, Vox Machina handled themselves just as well against this set as the first they encountered.
