Did Pike ever actually order stealthy armor from Gilmore?

Yes…ish. Pike asked Gilmore in Episode 14 (2:59:24), if she could commission him to make her armor that would be very heavy and very quiet. He said it could be done in about a month, and for a cost of 8000 gp (not including the price of the armor itself). Vax commented that it was, ‘worth it,’ and after a brief discussion on how Vax wasn’t trying to use Gilmore to get a better deal, Pike commented ‘ok,’ and the conversation moved on. No money was paid as a down payment, and it wasn’t brought up again.

How close did the group come to defeating the Briarwoods in Emon?

Very close to killing Sylas, less than halfway to killing Delilah. They were so close to turning Sylas to mist the first time, we’re surprised he didn’t-he took 203 damage in both battles. Delilah, on the other hand, only took 93 damage in the first battle, and somewhere around 200 damage in the second round.

When did Vex get her bag of holding?

We’re aware of three Vox Machina Bags of Holding:

  1. The main BoH, carried by Grog since before the stream (also RIP, Dork the Ox).
  2. Tiberius’, which he picked up from Draconia (Discussed in Ep14, 0:26:12)
  3. The refrigerated BoH, granted to Take Team 1 (which included Vex) to harvest Rimefang’s bits (Ep18, 0:34:35), and presumably given as a permanent gift thereafter.

Which video did Liam tell the story about how he felt embarrassed because nobody responded to his email about playing D&D again? Big fan guys!

Thanks! Liam’s told the story several times, but you may be content to hear it at SDCC 2015.

Muffling Armor/Weapons

greywarden-of-the-north Asked: Hello! I was wondering if you could remember how much Gilmore charged Pike to get her armour enchanted with a silence/muffle sort of enchantment? I have a Gunslinger in my party who wants to do a similiar sort of thing with their weapon, and I was going to use this as something to base it off of.

In Episode 14, Sherri and Gilmore told Pike that, while they couldn’t enchant the armor she already had, she could get a custom commission (2:59:25).  That’s because the enchantment would need to be so strong that it could be the only enchantment that the armor had.  It would take a month to enchant, and would cost around 8000 gold.

Specifically, Gilmore said that it would allow her to move freely in the armor, though he didn’t say it would silence her movement.  That sounds like the armor would likely no longer give her disadvantage on dexterity/stealth checks because it wasn’t as stiff/physically difficult to move in, not because it was quieter.  So, this may not be the best jumping off point for a silencer/muffler spell for your Gunslinger.  Good luck!

Noncombat Episodes

anonymous asks: I think there's been at least a couple - how many episodes have been entirely story (no combat encounters at all)?

Not very many!  Episodes 14, 36, 38, and 45 have no attacks.

Episode 47 has no official combat encounters, but Trinket attacks Grog (for training), Vex’ahlia attacks the breakfast chickens, and Grog kills Horace in one attack (without an encounter).

In Episode 24, Vax’ildan knocks a guard unconscious by surprise sneak attack, but it’s not a battle-type encounter.

Shopping Hauls

anonymous asks: Do you have a list of the goods obtained during the casts on-stream shopping sprees and what the items do (at least approximately)?

What show is complete without a shopping montage (or eleven)? Updated to Episode 36.

Gilmore Appearances

anonymous asks: How many times has Gilmore appeared?

Gilmore has long been a favorite NPC of the players and he has won the hearts of many a Critter as well, through sheer force of personality. He appears more often than most NPCs, but it never seems like enough. Updated through episode 41.

14 Shopping and Shipping

(2:03:27) The much-hyped Gilmore appears in his shop with much aplomb in a flash of beaded curtain, has lunch with Vax and flirts mercilessly with him, then returns to haggle with Vex over the price of potions.

15 Skyward

(0:23:35) Scanlan returns to Gilmore’s to request his infamous scrying potion.

24 The Feast

(0:54:36) Vax’ildan visits Gilmore’s to exchange news and buy daggers. Despite being in Westruun, Gilmore makes a spell-expensive trip back to the Emon shop just to see Vax.

38 Echoes of the Past

(0:42:45) A chance encounter between Vox Machina and Gilmore at the bar, resulting in a fantastic feast, spilled secrets about the Whispered One, and a heartbreaking conversation.

39 Omens

(3:20:45) Grog and Scanlan go to Gilmore’s and walk with Gilmore to the fateful gathering.

41 In Ruins

(2:19:50) Vox Machina find Sherri, Salda, the children, and a half-dead Gilmore hidden in Gilmore’s bunker. Pike heals Gilmore, and half the party escorts the group back through the secret tunnels to the Keep.

Vox Machina: Turnt Up

Drinks all around!

Well, except maybe during these times. I hear good things about Wah-Turr… Updated as of episode 38.*

  1. Party (ep13, 2:19:07) Pub crawl to celebrate escape from the Underdark.
  2. Vax’ildan (ep14, 2:48:20) After a pleasant afternoon out with Gilmore.
  3. Grog (ep17, 1:24:05) A disappointing evening after a disappointing defeat.
  4. Vex’ahlia (ep22, 1:14:12) A day of material loss drives the treasurer to drink.
  5. Party (ep23, 1:45:05) After Grog’s victory in the Crucible, they commence celebration, continuing throughout the afternoon (1:58:27).
  6. Tiberius (ep26, 2:15:43) A frustrating turn of events turns the dragonborn to fire water.
  7. Keyleth (ep38, 0:40:02) Vox Machina’s second pub crawl results in a very drunk druid. Keyleth doesn’t want to go home, so Grog suggests four shots of Firewater (0:52:18). After a bit of “druidcrafting” (0:57:28), Pike casts Lesser Restoration to remove the hangover, but keep the buzz going (1:02:45).

*Note that we’re still waiting on drunk showcases from Pike, Scanlan, and Percy!
