Vox Machina's Allies Against Thordak

Vox Machina isn’t alone in this battle against Thordak. Let’s take a look at who Vox Machina is glad is here with them. Here at the end of all things. Note: We confirmed all of these spellings with Matt, just to be sure!

Thanks to @amandammcclain@megzilla87@DjLeone85@PurpleStylusArt, @capefoxalix@Anodesu, @BChangArt, @BrinMataujall@firlachiel, @RobynAlyHope@jessejlarsen, and @iDrawBagman for use of their artistic talents!

Media References and Puns of Episode 78: The Siege of Emon

For those of you counting at home, there were three Hamilton references in this episode.

Media References

  • (0:02:18) Taliesin: You were giving me a little bit of this drunkenly during Westworld.
  • (0:02:48) Liam: Ohhh, you have chosen poorly! (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)
  • (0:03:23) Taliesin: How you never did a run on SNL is beyond me.
  • (0:04:36) Taliesin: Somewhere in Topanga Canyon right now, Dweezil Zappa is bleeding from the nose.

What’s the likelihood that Raishan is Keyleth’s mother?

Zero. While it is possible for a dragon in humanoid form to mate with a humanoid, the offspring would be a Half-Dragon, which is a specific monster in the Monster Manual. Keyleth, a half-elf/half-human, looks and acts nothing like a Half-Dragon, thankfully.

What’s the likelihood that Yenk the Goristro ate Keyleth’s mother, who wielded the Spire of Conflux?

Zero. We know the name of the individual that Yenk ate, Joran the Sea-Speaker, who was hero of the Verdant Expanse. Keyleth’s mother is named Vilya. Furthermore, Joran was consumed by the goristro 400 years ago, long before Keyleth’s half-elf mother lived.

What’s the likelihood that Keyleth’s mother is the one who cursed Raishan with her last dying breath?

Zero. Raishan was cursed (if she was cursed…) by the dying druid between 50-100 years ago, and Keyleth’s mother was still alive about 20 years ago.

What did you guys think of that Critical Role short film that came out a few days ago?

We’re not crying, YOU’RE crying! We <3 Critical Scope, and we’re really proud of them and the film!

What is Vax’s stealth bonus?

+15. Find that and more on our Character Sheets!

I’m wondering if there is a place to find the homebrewed spells of Mr. Matthew Mercer.

Spells? We don’t think there’s a specific place to find those. You can, however, find his Bloodhunter class, Bard College, and Gunslinger Martial Archetype over on the Dungeon Masters Guild!

How many times (and when) did Tiberius introduce himself?

29: We’ve got all of those times detailed here.

What is the male sphinx named?

A name is earned (by watching Episode 49). We’ve got a document with all the riddles that’s spoiler-free as long, as you don’t scroll too far, if you want to figure it out alongside the party.  If you are really intent on spoiling yourself, you can find it on our NPC list.

When did Grog say, “Have you heard the good news of our Lord and Savior MY AXE IN YOUR FACE?!”

Do we know where the party got the immovable rod?

We do! They received it in Whitestone from Jordana (ep30, 2:09:55), who was tending the magic shop in her father’s “absence.” There was a second immovable rod used earlier in the stream (Ep11, 2:42:44), which was last seen in Tiberius’ possession.

Vex said this week she has two dragon slaying arrows, I remember that one came from Zahra, but do we know where she got the other one?

The first Arrow of Dragon Slaying was looted from the quiver of one of Rimefang’s earlier victims (ep19, 3:40:58). Vex specifically set this one aside to be used on the dragon that killed her mother. (Zahra gifted the second arrow at Ep44, 4:43:45.)

Another set of Quick Answers!  Lots of reminiscing this time around.

Do you guys happen to remember when Percy said he wanted to visit the temple of the Raven Queen?

Episode 42 (3:36:43). He never made the trip, but we imagine Taliesin would have been very interested to see traces of her influences again, especially since he saw her influence in a different campaign.

In what episode did Grog trip Vax, and what were their rolls for it?

Episode 5 (1:43:50). Grog: 24. Vax: 22.

Zahra's History

stonecoldboss asks: Hey do you know what ep we learned about Zahras back story (if we have)

We know very little about Zahra’s history. Most of what we find is in Episode 18, where she tells Vex about the strained relationship she had with her father (1:18:46). We don’t know the name of her patron is, though we do know that he or she is heavily tied to the moon.

Puns of Episode 44: The Sunken Tomb

We apologize in advance for these.  Seriously.

  • (0:32:26) Matt: …was named Purvan.  Laura: Ha!  Yeah he is.  Sam: Last name…Pedobear.
  • (0:34:41) Vex’ahlia: there’s definitely gonna be ghosts there.  Kashaw?  Kashaw: Yeah?  Vex’ahlia: Do your holy s*** when we go there, all right?
  • (0:44:38) Mary: [Grog’s] very good at passing wind!
  • (1:07:50) Matt: For lack of a better term, a pucker point. […] Mary: The loch has an anus.  Liam: Ah, you’re goin’ to Loch Anus, are you?  Mary: It’s very muddy.  Well it ‘tis!  I put my nose in it. Augh…
  • (1:10:30) Will: See what’s coming out of Loch Anus.  Sam: Dark forces.
  • (1:32:43) Sam: It’s a super muddy Anus
  • (3:20:04) Will: You can’t finger [of death] it any more.  Mary: I can’t finger it to death!

Didn’t understand the cast’s Tootsie-Pop reference?  We’ve got you covered.  Ah-one, ah-two, ah-three!

  • (0:12:29) Zahra: Do you have any idea where [Grog’s herd] might be wandering?  Grog: Yeah, it’s this thing, I lost the GPS tracker on them on them so, no.  Laura: You should use Waze *wink*
  • (0:45:18) Matt: This full-on, Falcor-type fly through.
  • (0:51:35) Matt: Giant floating baby right outside the planet in space (2001: A Space Odyssey)

SkyMall: For all of your Knickknacks of Kha needs.

  • (0:52:42) Matt: Looks kind of like the, what’s it, from Hellboy II?  Will: The underground mall.
