Level Ups

anonymous asked: Which episodes or video revealed that the group leveled up.

At the beginning of Episode 9, Matt reveals that all party members leveled to 10. From that point on, the party didn’t have the same number of experience points, meaning they didn’t level up together. This, naturally, makes it difficult to gauge when everyone levels.

Tiberius, Vex, Vax, and Keyleth seem to have reached level 11 by episode 16. Percy, Scanlan, and Grog catch up to them over the next few episodes. Grog reaches level 12 shortly after his second bout with Kern (+2 to Con).

For the most part, the character cards shown on the stream are a good indicator, provided they are updated. Recently, however, Orion tweeted before episode 27 that he had leveled up (+2 to Wis). The card that was shown on the stream was still the same as before. It is unknown if anyone else has leveled, as well, since they haven’t really announced leveling in the most recent episodes. None of the cards have been updated in the past few episodes, either. (You can be sure they’ll be updated here when they are!)

Update: ashesofvalkan points out that Travis spent his Ability Improvement Score on the Great Weapon Master feat when he leveled. She also points out the Vex probably leveled before episode 26, given that Vex began cast Cure Wounds as often as possible. Thanks!

KO Rankings

kamenrider7 asked: What does the unconscious ranking mean on the knockout? Is it a counter? Also what do they values in parentheses mean? Please and thank you!

Based on this post, a higher rank indicates more KOs for that PC. In the case of a tie, the higher-ranked individual either reached their number of KOs first (e.g., Scanlan was knocked unconscious before Percy, even though they both have 3 total), or had more KO-like circumstances (i.e., the numbers in parentheses).

The numbers in parentheses indicate circumstances that fit some, but not all, of the definition of being knocked unconscious (e.g., Tiberius turned to Stone or Grog reduced to 0 hp but still alive by Death Ward). Hope that clarifies!

Executive Style. Executive Hair. Executive Goth.

A couple months back, a few critters questioned how many different hairstyles Taliesin has had over the course of the show. Well… Here’s your answer. With pictures, of course. Updated through episode 59.

  • Number of hairstyles since Critical Role started: 13
  • Number of unique colors since Critical Role started: 7
  • Number of photos in this gallery: 67
  • Amount of time we spent debating what constitutes a new hair style: Not on your life.

CLIFFHANGER

Every DM tries to end the session leaving the players wanting more, and Matt is no exception. Vax gets a lot of talk about being left alone in compromising situations at the end of episodes, with a week to stew in worry in between. Rather than merely call out the rogue for his perils (for doing his job), we figured it was only fair to tally the cliffhangers when party members found themselves facing down uncertain circumstances. Updated through episode 57. Spoilers, obviously!

  • Grog - 5
  • Vax’ildan - 5
  • Scanlan - 4
  • Vex’ahlia - 2

Dominant Hands

Considering Tyriok’s sudden reliance on his ambidexterity, we found it fitting to examine just what each player’s dominant hand is. While we can’t say for sure that each PC shares the same dominant hand as their player (e.g., Liam appears to be right handed but Vax is ambidextrous thanks to Dual Wielding), thanks to some observation, we can at least be confident which hand each cast member favors. Thanks to MomStats for her support, curiosity, and findings!

Ultimate Critmas Gift List

Following many, many requests and in preparation for the grand 50th episode Critmas special (before it transitions to once a year), we proudly present: our table of all Critmas gifts presented on the show.

We realize that not all gifts were shown on the air, and that not all names were read. If you wish to add, correct, or remove your name from the list, please either leave a comment on the appropriate box, or let us know the episode, time stamp, and gift. We’ll attempt to amend it as soon as we can get to it.

On that note, many individuals who requested this list asked so that they may avoid sending something the cast already received. While we’re sure that they would welcome any handcrafted items, we would also like to remind prospective givers of some non-physical gifts that would be welcomed by both the cast and crew at Geek & Sundry, and your community at large:

  • Donations (time or money) done in the name of Critical Role.
  • Donations to one of the many charities picked out by each cast member.
  • Letters, messages, and photos of fantastic things happening, such as:
    • Awesome charitable events in your area.
    • Starting your own RPG or gaming group.
    • Other ways Critical Role has inspired you to do something awesome.

Happy Critmas!

Gilmore Appearances

anonymous asks: How many times has Gilmore appeared?

Gilmore has long been a favorite NPC of the players and he has won the hearts of many a Critter as well, through sheer force of personality. He appears more often than most NPCs, but it never seems like enough. Updated through episode 41.

14 Shopping and Shipping

(0:23:35) Scanlan returns to Gilmore’s to request his infamous scrying potion.

24 The Feast

(0:54:36) Vax’ildan visits Gilmore’s to exchange news and buy daggers. Despite being in Westruun, Gilmore makes a spell-expensive trip back to the Emon shop just to see Vax.

38 Echoes of the Past

(0:42:45) A chance encounter between Vox Machina and Gilmore at the bar, resulting in a fantastic feast, spilled secrets about the Whispered One, and a heartbreaking conversation.

39 Omens

(3:20:45) Grog and Scanlan go to Gilmore’s and walk with Gilmore to the fateful gathering.

41 In Ruins

(2:19:50) Vox Machina find Sherri, Salda, the children, and a half-dead Gilmore hidden in Gilmore’s bunker. Pike heals Gilmore, and half the party escorts the group back through the secret tunnels to the Keep.

Vax’s most damaging sneak attack?
yourcynicalcanadian

As of Episode 40, the honor of receiving the most damage would be 78, dealt to Professor Ander’s eye. Tied for second is Kerrion Stonefell’s shoulders and Kynen Liore’s KO, with 66 damage. Kynen should consider himself very lucky indeed.

Below is the chronological list of all of Vax’s most impressive single hits using sneak attack. Only one is a straight critical; the rest are thanks to Vax’s subclass auto-crit ability, Assassinate.

A recent trend in Liam’s playstyle is his desire to not kill as many innocents as possible (Riskel Daxio excepted). If he can manage it, he knocks out whomever he can. Some of Vax’s best damage comes from these dagger handle KOs.

All Single Dagger Damage Above 50

  • Ep 4 - Duergar Guard - Assassinate - 52 damage - Kill (1:42:00)
  • Ep 4 - Mindflayer - Assassinate - 62 damage - Hurt Badly (1:46:35)
  • Ep 5 - Ogre - Assassinate - 62 damage - Kill (1:58:32)
  • Ep 5 - Orge - Assassinate - 52 damage - Kill (2:08:16)
  • Ep 7 - Duergar Guard - Critical - 59 damage - Kill (0:30:00)
  • Ep 23 - Kynan Leore - Assassinate - 66 damage - KO (2:45:15)
  • Ep 24 - Guard - Assassinate - 62 damage - KO (3:42:30)
  • Ep 29 - Kerrion Stonefell - Assassinate - 66 damage - Hurt Badly (2:53:16)
  • Ep 33 - Professor Anders - Assassinate - 78 damage - Dagger to the eye (p1 1:18:57)

Honorable Mentions

  • Ep 20 - Vince Cyinnor - Assassinate - 42 damage - KO (02:21:11)
  • Ep 30 - Guard - Assassinate - 50 damage - KO (3:02:33)
  • Ep 37 - Daxio - Assassinate - 46 damage - KO (3:54:08)

The de Rolo Crest

@stephanie1839 asked: You seem like the one who would know - how many times did VM publicly display the de Rolo symbol to incite rebellion?

  4. (Ep29, 3:53:50) Burned into Stonefell’s roof
  5. (Ep30, 2:06:50) Shown to Jordana
  6. (Ep31, p2 0:00:01) Skywriting after Tyleari’s defeat
