Villains Gallery: Non-Dragon Conclave Foes

Villains Gallery: Non-Dragon Conclave Foes

Thanks to @Takayuuki_art for the art piece!

We had an anonymous critter request a while back for us to create a list of villains and information about their intentions and deeds. There have been a lot of big bads over the course of 99 episodes, so many that we can't do them justice in one post. We're breaking them up by story arc, continuing with the non-dragon foes of the Conclave arc.

Maybe the REAL Conclave Were the Foes We Faced Along the Way

Spireling Shenn

  • Human rogue
  • Current leader of the Clasp in Emon
  • Wanted VM to assist the Clasp in infiltrating Vasselheim in exchange for the Clasp’s help with the Chroma Conclave crisis.
  • Ejected Vax’ildan from the Clasp after he refused to stay with them when VM rejected his offer.
  • Last known location: Emon, still running the Clasp

Anniversary Beholder

  • Beholder
  • “God” to the Kua-toa living in the tomb of Purvon Suul, Champion of the Raven Queen.
  • Killed by Zahra Hydris

The Pyrah Efreet

  • Efreet
  • Took advantage of Thordak’s destruction of Pyrah to invade the Material Plane
  • Killed by Scanlan

Thunderlord Kevdak

  • Goliath fighter/barbarian (Totem of the Bear)
  • Grog’s uncle and head of the Herd of Storms
  • Beat Grog and ejected him from the Herd of Storms when he refused to kill Wilhand Trickfoot.
    • Assumed Grog was dead.
  • Wore the Titanstone Knuckles
  • Took advantage of the destruction of Westruun to take the city for his own before being subjugated by a returning Umbrasyl.
  • Killed by Grog in a challenge for herd leadership.

Percy’s Got More Than a Gun

@AnaDrabbles asked: Do you have any idea how many times Percy has used a melee weapon/when he used one for the 1st time? Thanks!

Percy’s first time using a melee weapon was in Episode 24 (2:41:15), when he tested out the newly-made Diplomacy glove on Tiberius. He’s used a melee weapon 37 times, which is more than what we expected. Here are the other times he used a melee weapon:

How many times has Matt worn the SHINRA shirt? It must be comfy because he wears it so much.

Eight times: episodes 19, 28, 43, 52, Q&A and Battle Royale: Take II, Deadlands One-Shot, 61, and 65.

Have you guys kept track of all of the times Sam has advertised something? Those are honestly some of the funniest moments of the show (and that’s saying something).

We did for the first 60 episodes!

Do you have a list of links for all the Q&A sessions the crew have held?

Episode 4, Episode 10, Comic Con 2015, Q&A and Battle Royale I & II, Comic Con 2016 1 & 2

Will there be a new Critical Role episode on August 4th (today)?

No; the new episode this week will be live at GenCon on August 6th, at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST, two hours earlier than usual).

I recall that one time Percy crit on his Dead Shot ability and it turned out to be a very cool and badass moment. Do you happen to recall the episode and have a timestamp for when that happened and what was the total damage for that shot?

If you’re interested in crits, you can find all of them at links on our Running Stats page.  We’re pretty sure you’re referring to Percy’s Violent Shot against Lady Delilah Briarwood in Episode 34 (3:39:40). He dealt 50 damage (42 piercing + 8 ice), but because she was wearing the Cloak of Displacement that Vax now wears, she only took 29 damage (21 piercing + 8 ice). If you’re interested in rolls and their resulting damages, check out our All Rolls chart.  Or, if you’re interested in spells and their results, check out our Spells Cast chart.

You guys were very interested in Percy this time!

In which episode did Percy discover that Cass was still alive?

Episode 30 (2:36:28)

Any idea why the party was talking about “attuning” to the Dragon Slayer Longsword? The reason I ask is that according to the DMG the Dragon Slayer Longsword is just a weapon that can be used. Is it just a mistake or something they decided to change?

Matt did state that Vax “reattuned to the Dragon Slaying Longsword” in episode 55 (1:45:19). The description for weapons of Dragon Slaying in the DMG (p166) does not indicate any attunement requirements despite being a magical weapon, so it’s possible that this restriction was added specifically for this game.
