Critter Art

palchinski asked: Has anyone organized all the pre/post-stream art? I know they have the Geek & Sundry galleries, but I seem to keep seeing ones that aren’t in there.

Organizing all of that art is done by the inimitable Mr. Liam O’Brien. If you see a piece you like, you can find and follow that artist via their Twitter, Tumblr, or DeviantArt accounts! Critical Role Source does a great job of reblogging a lot of critter art, so that would be a good option to check out. Searching the Critical Role hashtag on Tumblr and Twitter is another solid choice.

As a friendly reminder, please do not repost or reuse artists’ work without their permission and credit. Reblogging and retweeting the original artist is fine, but if you plan on making your own post, profile header, or content with it, make sure you have the artist’s permission AND make very clear that it’s their hard work on display. Critters have the capacity for immense generosity; make sure that extends to our artists! Ioun knows they deserve it.

tledvina-blog asked: How many times has Hamilton been mentioned on Critical Role and Talks Machina?

It’s no secret that all of us at CRStats can’t say no to Hamilton. Conclaves rise, dragons fall, and Hamilton has seen us through it all. The story of tonight is that one of us is going to be on Talks Machina (7pm PT), so you should be in the room where it happens and watch!

Hamilton references on Critical Role and Talks Machina: 28 Updated to CR Episode 81 and TM Episode 8.

Grog’s Rage Damage

lonelymanonthemountain asked: How much extra damage, including the extra attack from his frenzied rage, has Grog done as a result of his Rage since the Stream began?

Grog’s Rage Bonus for the entirety of Critical Role has been +3 damage to all damage rolls while raging. When Grog goes into a Frenzied Rage, he gets a 3rd attack.

As of Episode 75, if we only count Rage Bonuses (+3), Grog dealt 582 additional damage.

If we count the Rage Bonus for his first two attacks, but the full damage from his third attack, Grog dealt 1172 additional damage thanks to his rage.

Level Ups

anonymous asked: Which episodes or video revealed that the group leveled up.

At the beginning of Episode 9, Matt reveals that all party members leveled to 10. From that point on, the party didn’t have the same number of experience points, meaning they didn’t level up together. This, naturally, makes it difficult to gauge when everyone levels.

Tiberius, Vex, Vax, and Keyleth seem to have reached level 11 by episode 16. Percy, Scanlan, and Grog catch up to them over the next few episodes. Grog reaches level 12 shortly after his second bout with Kern (+2 to Con).

For the most part, the character cards shown on the stream are a good indicator, provided they are updated. Recently, however, Orion tweeted before episode 27 that he had leveled up (+2 to Wis). The card that was shown on the stream was still the same as before. It is unknown if anyone else has leveled, as well, since they haven’t really announced leveling in the most recent episodes. None of the cards have been updated in the past few episodes, either. (You can be sure they’ll be updated here when they are!)

Update: ashesofvalkan points out that Travis spent his Ability Improvement Score on the Great Weapon Master feat when he leveled. She also points out the Vex probably leveled before episode 26, given that Vex began cast Cure Wounds as often as possible. Thanks!

Percy’s Got More Than a Gun

@AnaDrabbles asked: Do you have any idea how many times Percy has used a melee weapon/when he used one for the 1st time? Thanks!

Percy’s first time using a melee weapon was in Episode 24 (2:41:15), when he tested out the newly-made Diplomacy glove on Tiberius. He’s used a melee weapon 37 times, which is more than what we expected. Here are the other times he used a melee weapon:

Speculation

Anonymous asked: Story threads that have been dropped/not hit on yet? For example: Kainan, Vax’s protégé?

Check out this post here for a number of the major ones.  Here are some others:

  • Did the entryway to the (possibly) Far Realm that Vox Machina caved in ever reopen?
  • Was Captain Damon single?
  • Why did it take Kima so long to go back to Vasselheim?
  • Why do Osysa and her mate have to stay apart? How did they meet?
  • How did Lyra’s parents die?
  • How did Zahra come to make her pact with The Great Old One?
  • Where is Keyleth’s mother?
  • Percy and Lillith didn’t come down to breakfast…
  • Where is Vouk (a.ka. the tongueless wonder) now?
  • How did Riskel, Sylas, Delilah, and Anders get involved with Vecna?
  • Where is Ripley and what is she up to?
  • What is the spinning orb of death?
  • What happened to Goran Vedmeyer?
  • Was the blue shard that VM traded to the Clasp to get to Daxio a piece of a threshold crest?
  • Who was the new owner of Krieg’s house?
  • There was an engraving on the bottom of the tea set that Vex took of L.M.-who is it?
  • How did the Chroma Conclave come to be and why?
  • What did Allura do with the skull?
  • Where is Kamaljiori now?
  • Is Craven Edge enjoying his vacation on another plane of existence?
  • Tales of Allura, Drake, and Kima’s days as adventurers.
  • Who is living in Greyskull Keep?
  • Who was Kerrek really?
  • Is Nala enjoying her book?
  • Did Garmelie really just want Tirelda’s hat for fun?
  • How are threshold crests made?
  • Who worshipped Orlan the ghost bear?
  • Where did the trees go that Vex saw drop out of the canopy? And how did they come back?
  • Why did Gilmore leave Marquet?
  • What is going on with the drug trade in Ank’Harel (and is fusaka part of it)?
  • The ruler of Ank’Harel, J’mon Sa Ord, has been there for way longer than should theoretically be possible- who or what are they?

Pike's Strength

weneedboldstrokes asked: Sorry if this has been addressed. Tonight I noticed that Pike's strength is 13. The PHB says that 15 strength is required to wear plate. Is this an oversight or a homebrew? It's cool if you don't know.

We got this question back before Pike donned the Gauntlets of Ogre Power, which raised her Strength to 19. Nonetheless, because Pike is a War Domain Cleric, she is proficient in heavy armor, which means the plate armor doesn’t cause ALL her rolls to be at disadvantage. Instead, she is merely terrible at stealth and any dexterity rolls, as we have seen.

Now, the Players Handbook States that, “if the Armor table shows “Str 13” or “Str 15” in the Strength column for an armor type, the armor reduces the wearer’s speed by 10 feet unless the wearer has a Strength score equal to or higher than the listed score.” So, back when Pike had 13 Strength, she was not incapable of wearing the armor. She just should have been slower while wearing it.

However, since Pike has used her full Gnomish speed (25 ft.) in several instances, we know that Matt and co. seemed to be houseruling that particular aspect of wearing plate mail. This may be a holdover from Pathfinder, in an attempt to compromise, or it may just be an oversight. At any rate, a Pike that can only move 15 ft. in 6 seconds is probably not a Pike that would be very helpful in a clutch healing moment, like using Revivify on Grog during the K’varn battle.

But as long as Pike has the Gauntlets, speed will not be an issue. Now if only she could get her sneaky plate armor from Gilmore!

Fenthras

Anonymous asked: Is there an official picture or description of what Fenthras does yet?

Yes! Also listed here:

  • Handle is wrapped with very tight, dark brown/black leather. At the cusp of the handle, where the handle is notched, and the caps is nice, golden-bronze metallic inlay.
  • The bow is curved, deep verdant green, with jungle vine-type texture, like it almost builds on itself with a series of natural leaf scales.
  • As it curves into the ends, it flexes and shifts on its own. When the user pulls an arrow, it tightens automatically.
  • When an arrow is fired, it moves with incredible speed. The bow flexes with such intensity that it makes a roaring rush of wind.
  • When a creature is killed by an arrow from this weapon, a single six-foot tall tree grows from their corpse (type of tree may vary).
  • +3 Longbow (Requires Attunement)
  • Damage = 2d8 Piercing + DEX + 3 + 1d4 Lightning.
  • Once per day, the wielder can declare a Bramble Shot: on a successful hit, the target takes an additional 4d8 piercing damage and must make a Strength saving throw or be restrained.
  • Once per short rest, the wielder can declare an Oracle Shot, allowing them to project their sight through the arrow they fire from the bow for up to 10 minutes.

Whooooooo are you...
