Around Exandria in 80 Minutes. Or More.

patheticbarrel asked: Does anyone know the rough travel distances from major locations?

traditionalmarriage asked: Do we have any info on how Matt handles travel time?

To start, the continents we know about are Tal’Dorei, Isilra, Marquet, and Wildmount.

  • The Ozmit Sea separates Isilra, Tal’Dorei, and Marquet. Marquet lies to the far south, Isilra to the west, Tal’Dorei to the east.
  • The Lucidian Ocean separates the continent of Wildmount from Tal’Dorei. Wildmount is far to the east of Tal’Dorei.

Monster Analysis: Elephant

Thanks to @madqueenmomofor the sketch!

  • First Appearance: 72 The Elephant in the Room
  • Armor Class 12
  • Speed 40 ft
  • Suggested average, max HP: 76, 120
    • 76 total HP
    • 88 taken
    • 20 finishing blow by Grog

Elephants are large gray mammals with big ears, long noses called trunks, and sharp tusks that…

Okay, so you know what elephants are. D&D elephants have a gore and stomp attack (+8 to hit), and can stomp on prone creatures as a bonus action, especially if they’ve been knocked down by the trampling charge (20 ft distance for attack, DC 12 Strength saving throw).

The “encounter” lasted for two rounds with Grog knocking Scanlan out of the way for the first attack, Elephant!Keyleth retaliating, Scanlan blasting Elephant!Keyleth and Percy with a fireball, and Grog “saving” Keyleth from the beast. The real challenge came in the form of the door Keyleth had difficulty besting before the encounter even began.

Which oath does Lady Kima follow as a paladin?

Kima is now under the Oath of Vengeance, despite Matt’s tweet last July that she was an Oath of Devotion paladin. We’re not sure under what circumstances the switch happened, though.

Can Kima as a Halfling even wield the Holy Avenger Great Sword she was given?

Absolutely! Though the Rules as Written say that all Small creatures are at a disadvantage when wielding Heavy weapons, while still in the Underdark, Kima wielded a great sword with proficiency because, as a paladin, she is proficient with martial weapons. Further, have you seen Kima? She can scarf down chicken while doing one-handed pushups; one great sword isn’t going to give her problems.

Level Ups

anonymous asked: Which episodes or video revealed that the group leveled up.

At the beginning of Episode 9, Matt reveals that all party members leveled to 10. From that point on, the party didn’t have the same number of experience points, meaning they didn’t level up together. This, naturally, makes it difficult to gauge when everyone levels.

Tiberius, Vex, Vax, and Keyleth seem to have reached level 11 by episode 16. Percy, Scanlan, and Grog catch up to them over the next few episodes. Grog reaches level 12 shortly after his second bout with Kern (+2 to Con).

For the most part, the character cards shown on the stream are a good indicator, provided they are updated. Recently, however, Orion tweeted before episode 27 that he had leveled up (+2 to Wis). The card that was shown on the stream was still the same as before. It is unknown if anyone else has leveled, as well, since they haven’t really announced leveling in the most recent episodes. None of the cards have been updated in the past few episodes, either. (You can be sure they’ll be updated here when they are!)

Update: ashesofvalkan points out that Travis spent his Ability Improvement Score on the Great Weapon Master feat when he leveled. She also points out the Vex probably leveled before episode 26, given that Vex began cast Cure Wounds as often as possible. Thanks!

What’s the likelihood that Raishan is Keyleth’s mother?

Zero. While it is possible for a dragon in humanoid form to mate with a humanoid, the offspring would be a Half-Dragon, which is a specific monster in the Monster Manual. Keyleth, a half-elf/half-human, looks and acts nothing like a Half-Dragon, thankfully.

What’s the likelihood that Yenk the Goristro ate Keyleth’s mother, who wielded the Spire of Conflux?

Zero. We know the name of the individual that Yenk ate, Joran the Sea-Speaker, who was hero of the Verdant Expanse. Keyleth’s mother is named Vilya. Furthermore, Joran was consumed by the goristro 400 years ago, long before Keyleth’s half-elf mother lived.

What’s the likelihood that Keyleth’s mother is the one who cursed Raishan with her last dying breath?

Zero. Raishan was cursed (if she was cursed…) by the dying druid between 50-100 years ago, and Keyleth’s mother was still alive about 20 years ago.

Can you track the times Percy puts on the mask?

As a reminder, we no longer track stats that require an entire show rewatch. From off the tops of our heads, however, here’s what is likely an incomplete list:

  • Episode 22 (2:21:09) Walking up the volcano to get to the Fire Ashari
  • Episode 25 (3:08:35) Overkilling The Broker
  • Episode 29 (3:22:38) Killing Kerrion
  • Episode 33 (p1. 2:01:59) Killing Anders
  • Episode 60 (1:48:26) Hats Machina

This might be asking too much of a fan theory question but do we know which Oath Vax is likely to take if/when he reaches 3rd level paladin?

We’re not going to speculate because right now it could be anything or nothing. We’ll have to see what the upcoming episodes have in store!
