Spending a mere but eventful 24 hours in Rexxentrum has dredged up quite a bit of the Dwendalian Empire’s capital’s history. The Nein find themselves fully embroiled in political tensions, both international and domestic in nature, ranging from decades to centuries old.
Each section below will have everything new we’ve learned that relates to the current situation (though some newer elements might not appear here if we can’t directly link them to the situation at hand). Hope you like books, because the history is vast here.
We have also updated all of the following compendiums through episode 88:
WARNING: Spoilers through episode 88 of Campaign 2 abound below. Proceed at your own discretion.

Robbed of his fiendish immortality and looking like the unholy union of a gibbering mouther and a mindwitness, Obann faced off against The Mighty Nein for the sixth and final time in the secret basement of the Chantry of the Dawn. With great punishment came great new abilities; although Obann’s defensive capabilities, flight, and charming personality were destroyed by Tharizdun’s tantrum, the huge size and sheer destructive and damaging potential of this new form were dark reflections of the source.

Welcome to level 11! It’s spells, extra reactions, and guaranteed rolls this time around for the Mighty Nein. Caduceus, Caleb, and Jester all get 6th level spells, Fjord ventures into the world of multiclass spellcasting, Beau gets a formerly-nerfed ability back, and Nott gets to be consistently good at a bunch of skills. Plus, all cantrips now deal more damage (yes, even Fjord’s— cantrips scale with character level, not class level).
Read MoreWe spent an embarrassingly long time trying to come up with a parody of Inky Whip/Nom Nom that could match Marisha's for creativity, but then we realized that nothing could top that. And no, we don’t want to know what kind of damage Obann’s “stanky leg” could deal.

It’s been a long day for the Mighty Nein! They started off with scrying at Pumat’s, then traveled from the Zadash Cobalt Soul to the Rexxentrum branch, escaped a griffon, narrowly avoided battling a purple worm and some Kryn warriors, cased a church, freed Yasha, fought cultists and demons, permanently silenced the Laughing Hand, found their way into the secret basement of the Chantry, and battled Obann and the Caedogeist. The latter is nowhere to be seen at the moment, and the former just got twisted into a horrifying abomination by the Chained Oblivion. We’d feel bad for Obann, but given how he’s treated Yasha… Nah.
That said, the Nein still have to deal with him and potentially Jourrael, who may just leave the scene altogether now that she’s no longer under Obann’s control. If she does leave, having the chosen assassin of Lolth and Asmodeus roaming Exandria is a whole ‘nother issue, but that’s a potential problem for Future Mighty Nein. Ahead, we lay out where the Mighty Nein stand going into whatever is going to happen with Obann the Punished. As a reminder, this is based on what we’ve tracked; if something is handled differently in-game, that is canon.

Having lost two of his difficult-to-kill team members in the earlier sanctuary fight (Yasha to Caduceus’ Dispel Magic and the Laughing Hand to Caleb’s Widogast’s Web of Fire), Obann retreated with the Caedogeist and a dominated Nott to continue with his original plan: breaking one of “the Angel of Iron’s” shackles deep beneath the Chantry.
Up to this point, Obann has always been a master manipulator, including taking the free will from his victims for his own personal “greater good.” By staying high above the party and taking their numbers for himself, he drastically limited what could be done against him while giving himself free reign to control the battlefield. In this particular scenario, where he was missing two “unbreakable” sacrifices for the ritual, he naturally was content to continue to let the Nein do the hard work for him while they were distracted with staying alive against Jourrael, who was also fully under his control.

With the fate of Exandria on the line, The Mighty Nein forced their way into the Chantry of the Dawn intent on stopping Obann from breaking one of the shackles of the Chained Oblivion, and rescue Yasha from his clutches in the process. But first, they needed to get through a cathedral full of cultists and demons.

The legendary Quackthulhu, a duck corrupted by an aberrant meteor, waddled its way out of its pond and into its new lair, where it lay in wait for our new band of adventurers. The content of the meteor is somewhat unknown, save that it’s white and luminescent, and it warps anything that has the misfortune of getting it embedded in their skin. The dire wolves only had a little, so they had minor (but still disturbing) mutations of face-splitting tentacles, extra eyes, and growing an extra leg. Quacktopus got the whole meteor.
