While Lucien the Nonagon may have carried nine eyes gifted by the Somnovem, the eyes of Lucien the Neo-Somnovem were the Somnovem’s actual corporeal forms. With full control over the emotions made manifest, Lucien’s sheer power and washboard abs were a terrifying, magnificent sight to behold.

Say that name, say that name,
He's burning up those actions, keep up that distraction
Say that name, say that name,

What Does the Mighty Nein Have Left: Neo-Somnovem Edition

Thanks to @MthisG for this art piece, and thanks to Hala Yousif (Lulii999) for the individual busts used in this article!

Between the fiery rage of the eye of Ira, the withering disgust of the eye of Fastidan, and the psychic assault channeled from the full chorus of the Somnovem, Lucien the Neo-Somnovem inflicted a ton of damage to the Mighty Nein. We’ll save the battle analysis for its usual place as we focus on where we expect the party to begin 2-140.

Among the distorted architecture and twisted remnants of the Cognouza Ward, the Nein stumbled across the maddened flesh puppets of the city, as well as two members of the Somnovem who briefly inhabited them: Timorei and Ira. While the person inhabited by Timorei melted into a pile of flesh, the individual Ira commandeered and several nearby citizens were spurred to furious rage upon Ira taking their leave. These maddened husks crawled toward the living Nein, sprouting screaming mouths full of gnashing teeth.

When did the Nein last leave the Xhorhaus to their housekeeper, and how much do they owe her?

The Nein hired Vedalla on Thunsheer 24, at a rate of 40 gp per month. According to our Goods, Services, and Items Exchanged tables, we only have a record of a single month’s payment. As of 2-137 (Sydenstar 3), they’re in the middle of the third month of her hiring, with 21 days left in the current pay period. Either they owe her 80 gp more, or she stopped showing up. Had they gone with her daily rate of 1 gp, 4 sp, they would currently owe the 40 gp they paid plus 58 gp for 70 days worth. (The three combined months would end up around 127 total gp, 4 sp, opposed to the 120 total gp of the current plan.)

Do you have the translation for what Matt’s damage phrases mean in terms of how many hit points a creature has left? "Some Wear and Tear", "Bloodied", “Starting to,” "Looking Rough", "Barely Holding On," etc.

Based purely on a rough estimate, phrases like “wear and tear” and “starting to look rough” are based on percentages (maybe 75% total health on the former, just past 50% on the latter). “Bloodied” is an unofficial state in which the creature is below 50%. A creature who is “Looking REALLY rough” or “Barely holding on” is more in line with actual HP remaining, in which Matt is telling the party that any one of them could get the finishing blow based on how much damage he knows they can deal. Even with phrases like these and the hindsight of numbers behind us, Matt is still really good at not broadcasting when a creature has enough hit points to fall to a single simple attack.

Do you know how many times Beauregard has rolled a natural 20 and gotten a 1 on the damage die?

Of the 31 Nat20 attacks that Beau landed and rolled damage for, only four of them resulted in 1s on the damage die.
